Cafe TOO much for words...

Lobby of the Island Shangri-La
Two posts in one day is too much I know, but I had to share briefly my wonderful gastronomic experience from last night.  Mum, Dad and I met Cyril Parry last night for dinner at Cafe TOO in the Island Shangri-la and it was a feast fit for kings!  Cyril is a golf buddy of my Grandpa's from back in Vancouver, although he and his wife, Ros, lived in Hong Kong for nearly 25 years so he knows his way around the city well.

Cafe TOO is a buffet style restaurant, but unlike any buffets I have ever been to.  Starting from one end to another, they had stations set up for various indian food dishes, fresh seared diver scallops with fois gras and asparagus, traditional Chinese Soup, a noodle and dumpling station, smoked duck prepared three different ways, a fresh fish, seafood and vegetable station, heaps upon heaps of Boston lobster, crab and prawns with signature Shangri-la seafood sauce, a sushi station complete with buttery sashimi, cut to order, hand rolled maki and sushi cones filled with tuna, eel, salmon and prawns and a salad bar featuring about 8 different types of fresh salads.

Of course, my favourite station,  the dessert bar, situated right in front of our table!!  I could barely focus on the course at hand with the aroma of fresh waffle cones drifting my direction all night.  There were about 10 different types of individual dessert plates as well as a sundae bar, a crepe station, a Chinese custard station, a mooncake platter (for the mid-autumn festival) and about 4 different types of cakes.

Dessert Bar!!!
Thanks to Cyril, the wine flowed all night long and after one cup of decaf coffee I drifted into a food coma the second I returned home!
